10 to 12 people: 1 to 2 instructors. Small team, close attention, everyone surfs at the same time. Simplest setup.
15 to 20 people: 3 to 4 instructors, school splits into two groups by level or time slot. Allows mixing across departments.
20 to 30 people: 4 to 6 instructors, with dedicated logistics staff. The larger schools in Peniche and Ericeira have the equipment and infrastructure for this without losing quality.
What it costs, realistically
Per person, group of 10+: 25 to 40 €. Includes 3/2mm wetsuit (summer) or 4/3mm (winter), softboard, leash, certified instructor, activity insurance. For groups of 15+, many schools offer 10–20% corporate discount — ask for a quote.
What a full team-building day looks like
Morning (3 hours): arrival at the school, 30-min briefing, equipment, 2 hours in the water (including 20 min on land). Almost everyone stands up.
Lunch: most beaches have terraced restaurants. Fresh seafood, daily specials, shared drinks. Relaxed atmosphere — adrenaline in the body, conversation flowing.
Afternoon (optional): second session for those who want more, coastal walk for those who prefer dry land, or beach yoga at some schools. Multiple options at the same price.
Where to go — zones ready for groups
Peniche / Baleal: most infrastructure, several beaches with different orientations (there's always one working). Capacity for large groups.
Ericeira: World Surfing Reserve, small-village vibe, great for groups that want to combine surf with premium food.
Costa da Caparica: Lisbon is 20 min away — ideal if the team is visiting the capital. Several large schools, easy bus access.
Booking for groups, hassle-free
On Surf Booking, just request a quote from the school's profile — describe number of people, date, average level and any special requirement (company invoice, vegetarian food, etc.). Typical mistakes to avoid
Booking too close to the date: schools with 30-person capacity need 1-2 weeks notice. Book at least 3 weeks ahead.
