Portugal has 850km of coastline and hundreds of surfable beaches. But if you've only got a week, this is the perfect itinerary.
Start in Peniche. Baleal has a fantastic sheltered bay and Supertubos is world-famous. Stay 2 nights — there are waves for every taste.
Head south to Ericeira — a World Surfing Reserve. Foz do Lizandro for lessons, Ribeira d’Ilhas for quality waves, and Coxos with its unique scenery.
Guincho has stunning scenery next to the Sintra Park. Carcavelos is super accessible and just 20 minutes from Lisbon.
Head south to Aljezur. Arrifana and Amoreira have incredible scenery and consistent waves. End in Sagres — the south-westernmost point of Europe.
Book lessons in advance on Surf Booking — in summer the best schools sell out. A pack of 3-5 lessons in each zone ensures progression.
